Waterproof Cordless Lamps: IP Ratings Explained and What You Actually Need
5 Min. Lesezeit
IP44-rated cordless table lamps designed for patios, terraces, and outdoor dining. Splash-resistant brass and aluminium construction, up to 109-hour battery life, and warm 2700K light that transforms any outdoor space after dark.
Why Outdoor Lamps
An outdoor table lamp does something no string light, candle, or lantern can do — it puts warm, dimmable, eye-level light exactly where you need it. On the dining table. On the side table next to the lounge chair. On the railing of a rooftop bar. No extension cords, no open flames, no compromise.
Every lamp in this collection carries an IP44 rating — the international standard for splash resistance. That means they handle rain splashes, morning dew, poolside mist, and the inevitable knocked-over wine glass. They are not submersible (that would be IP67+), but they are built for life on patios, terraces, balconies, and covered outdoor dining areas.
Pair that protection with up to 109 hours of battery life and you have an outdoor lamp you charge monthly, not daily. USB-C in, warm light out — all summer long.

Protection Rating
IP44 is the international standard (IEC 60529) for ingress protection. The first digit (4) means the lamp is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm — no insects or debris getting inside. The second digit (4) means it withstands water splashes from any direction.
In practical terms: rain on a covered patio, condensation on a cool evening, a splash from the pool, or a spilled drink. These are all within the IP44 specification. What it does not cover is submersion or sustained heavy downpour — so bring them inside during storms or leave them under cover.
First Digit: 4
Protected against solid objects >1mm (tools, wires, insects)
Second Digit: 4
Protected against water splashes from any direction
By Setting
Every IP44-rated lamp in this collection is designed for these outdoor settings.
The most popular outdoor setting for cordless lamps. Place one on a side table, two flanking a sofa, or a row down the dining table. The Avenue is the statement piece — 109 hours means you charge it once a month.
Restaurant terraces, rooftop bars, and garden parties all benefit from warm 2700K table lighting. The Shelby and Vega bring the same atmosphere indoors and out.
No outlets on your balcony? No problem. A rechargeable outdoor lamp gives you warm, dimmable light without running an extension cord through the door. The Aira fits compact spaces beautifully.
IP44 handles poolside splash and mist. Place lamps on side tables around the pool deck for warm evening ambiance. No cords near water — inherently safer than any plug-in option.
Boutique hotels and resorts use outdoor cordless lamps in pool bars, garden restaurants, and cabana areas. Our charging carts handle up to 10 lamps at once — charge overnight, deploy at sunset.
Garden weddings, outdoor receptions, and marquee dinners. Cordless lamps replace candles and fairy lights with consistent, elegant, warm table lighting — no fire risk, no wind blowouts. Trade pricing available.

Care Guide
IP44 lamps perform best under cover — a pergola, awning, umbrella, or covered terrace. They handle rain splashes, but sustained heavy rain is outside the IP44 specification. When in doubt, bring them inside or place them under shelter.
Wipe down with a damp cloth. For brass finishes, use a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. The glass diffusers on the Avenue can be cleaned with glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth — never spray directly onto the lamp.
In cold climates, store lamps indoors over winter. Lithium-ion batteries perform best between 10-35°C (50-95°F). Store at 50-80% charge for optimal battery health. Come spring, charge fully and they are ready to go.
Charge indoors or in a dry, sheltered area. The USB-C port is protected but should not be exposed to moisture during charging. With 94-109 hours of battery life, you will only need to bring lamps inside for charging once or twice a month.
They are IP44 rated — splash-resistant from any direction. This covers rain splashes, morning dew, poolside mist, and spilled drinks. They are not submersible (IP67+). For heavy rainstorms, bring them under cover or inside.
Yes, as long as conditions stay within IP44 specifications — light rain, dew, and humidity are fine. In heavy storms or freezing conditions, bring them inside. For best battery longevity, avoid temperatures below 0°C (32°F) for extended periods.
The Avenue, Shelby, and Vega last up to 109 hours on the lowest brightness setting. The Aira reaches 94 hours. At typical evening use of 3-4 hours, that is roughly a month between charges.
Warm 2700K LED light attracts significantly fewer insects than cool white or blue-toned lighting. Insects are most attracted to UV and blue wavelengths. Our warm LEDs produce virtually no UV, making them a better choice for outdoor dining than most alternatives.
IP44 protects against splash from any direction. IP65 protects against low-pressure water jets (hose). IP67 means full submersion up to 1 metre. For a table lamp used on patios and terraces, IP44 is the appropriate and sufficient rating.
Absolutely. They are popular for garden weddings, outdoor receptions, and marquee dining. No candles to blow out, no cords to trip over, no fire risk. Our charging carts handle up to 10 lamps at once — charge overnight, deploy at sunset. Trade pricing is available.
Our lamps have weighted brass or aluminium bases designed for stability. In normal outdoor conditions they are very stable. In severe wind, we recommend bringing them inside — as you would with any table accessory.
Wipe with a damp microfibre cloth. For brass finishes, use a soft dry cloth to maintain the patina. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Glass diffusers can be cleaned with glass cleaner applied to a cloth — never spray directly onto the lamp.
